Today, all qualifying students can apply online for the Excelsior Scholarship Program 2023-2024. In collaboration with other student financial aid programmes. Financial Coverage of Excelsior Scholarship Program 2023

A recipient of the Excelsior Scholarship may additionally get up to $5,500. The grant amount was calculated using the resident tuition rates paid by SUNY ($6,470) or CUNY ($6,330) for 2016-21. This sum is subtracted from any other financial assistance awards given to students.

For the upcoming academic year, an applicant has obtained or will receive a NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) award and/or a federal Pell grant. Eligibility Criteria

A applicant must be able to do the following:

  • be a New York State resident for the preceding 12 months prior to the commencement of the term.
  • be a citizen of the United States or an eligible non-citizen who has completed a federally recognised “Ability to Benefit” exam, as required by the State Education Department’s Commissioner, or have graduated from high school in the United States, acquired a high school equivalency diploma, or completed a federally recognised “Ability to Benefit” exam.
  • In addition, having a total federal adjusted gross income of $125,000 or less and enrolled in an undergraduate programme at a SUNY or CUNY college, including community colleges and Cornell University’s and Alfred University’s statutory colleges.
  • Take at least 12 credits and complete at least 30 credits per semester (successfully).
  • Applicable to his or her degree programme by continuous study, with no enrollment breaks unless for certain, verified reasons.
  • If he or she was a college student prior to the 2019-20 academic year. He or she must have earned at least 30 credits each year (consecutively) related to his or her degree programme before applying for an Excelsior Scholarship.
